About Clanio
We're building Clanio right now — we haven't launched yet. The idea came from a problem we lived through ourselves.
Shay and Dor, Clanio's founders, went out almost every Saturday — rivers, camping, day trips, often just the two of them. It was fun, but they wanted to widen the circle and meet more people who'd flow with them into all of it. They weren't looking for romance. They wanted to build a group.
So they did it the most manual way possible: found people on Instagram who seemed like the same vibe, and messaged them. Every time, they had to explain they weren't hitting on anyone, weren't looking for anything romantic, and the whole idea was simply to meet people and start doing things together. Some didn't reply. Some did. And with a few of them, they really went out and traveled.
That's when it clicked: the problem isn't that people don't want to meet others. The problem is that they don't know how to start.
Instagram knows how to show you people, but it doesn't know how to tell you who's open to a social introduction right now. It doesn't know how to present a whole group, check whether two groups actually fit, or turn the awkwardness of a cold message into clear, mutual interest.
So they built Clanio around a simple idea: instead of a person searching for a person, a group meets a group. Everyone creates a personal profile, then starts a group or joins an existing one. The group admin looks at other groups and Likes or Passes on the group's behalf. Only if both groups Like each other is a Match created, and only then does a shared group chat open for every member of both groups.
It's a small change in mechanism, but a big change in how it feels. You don't show up alone — you show up with your friends. You don't have to guess whether the other side is interested, because there was already a mutual Match.
Clanio isn't a dating app in disguise. Romance can happen naturally, like in any social meetup, but that isn't the product's promise. The promise is much broader: take that awkward moment of wanting to meet new people and not knowing how to start — and turn it into a simple, mutual, respectful way to expand your circle.
Clanio isn't meant to help you find another profile.
It's meant to help you find the people who, next Saturday, are already part of your story.
Where we are now
We're actively building. The name and the clanio.co domain are already set — the final logo and visual language are still in progress. If you want to follow our progress, partner with us, or just tell us about your group — we'd love to hear from you.
